Sangakkara made his seventh double century as Sri Lanka continued to play with Indian bowling attack to get 457/2 on the second day of the second Test. While Sangakkara was at 214, Jayawardene was at 71 with 10 boundaries. Sangakkara's seventh double century came in 301 balls with 27 boundaries. It was a good start for India as Sangakkara hit two consecutive boundaries of Mithun in the first over. The 100 runs partnership for the third wicket between the two players came off 188 balls.
The switching of spinners by captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni hardly made any impact as Jayawardene, took Pragyan Ojha head on and hit him for a boundary following with three runs. He then followed it up by executing two boundaries in Pragyan Ojha over. Sangakkara smashed 4 boundaries in 4 Ojha over. The 150 runs partnership between the two came in 239 balls.
