Mendis is known to trouble batsmen with his bowling but he says not only him but whole Sri Lanka is working on sharpening the batting skills. Mendis scored 78 and along with Thilan Samaraweera pulled Sri Lanka up with a 118 run. When he got into the national team he did not concentrate much on batting but more on bowling. Lasith Malinga has also played useful knocks in this series against India.
When asked if he thought of scoring a century when he got 75, he said, his only idea was to score as much runs as possible. Even a single was valuable because that was going to make change for the team batting last on the wicket. Mendis believes Sri Lanka has a good chance to win the series but depends on how they bowl. He added saying that he observed that there is a tendency for the wickets to fall and if Sri Lanka is able to pick up a few wickets then they should be able to wrap up the game.
