SL decided to suspend Randiv

The ICC has accepted the decision of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board to act quickly to an incident that took place at the end of the third ODI match between Sri Lanka and India on Monday. With India requiring just 1 run to win, Sri Lanka bowler Suraj Randiv bowled a no-ball which secured the victory for India and denied Virender Sehwag’s opportunity to reach a century. Having found guilty by this incident, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board decided to suspend Randiv for a one-day international match.

They announced, Randiv will not be able to play Thursday's match against New Zealand. ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat said the Spirit of Cricket is basic of their sport and it is pleasing to see their members in such a decisive manner. As far as the ICC is concerned it was an unfortunate incident and the matter is now closed.

SL's lower order worked on batting

Mendis is known to trouble batsmen with his bowling but he says not only him but whole Sri Lanka is working on sharpening the batting skills. Mendis scored 78 and along with Thilan Samaraweera pulled Sri Lanka up with a 118 run. When he got into the national team he did not concentrate much on batting but more on bowling. Lasith Malinga has also played useful knocks in this series against India.

When asked if he thought of scoring a century when he got 75, he said, his only idea was to score as much runs as possible. Even a single was valuable because that was going to make change for the team batting last on the wicket. Mendis believes Sri Lanka has a good chance to win the series but depends on how they bowl. He added saying that he observed that there is a tendency for the wickets to fall and if Sri Lanka is able to pick up a few wickets then they should be able to wrap up the game.

SL left India to climb

India's batsmen were handed a challenge to get a series level win in the final Test after Sri Lanka fought on Friday. India made target of 257 in their second innings. Randiv dismissed opener Murali Vijay for 27 to a catch by Mahela Jayawardene. Sachin Tendulkar, the world's leading run getter playing his 169th Test match, kept India's hopes alive with unbeaten 11. Sri Lanka made 267 in their second innings after a century partnership between Thilan and Ajantha Mendis.

Samaraweera added 38 runs with Lasith Malinga (15) and withstood of 118 with Mendis (78). Mendis hit 10 boundaries and a six in his half century. India's three spinners, Ojha, Mishra and Sehwag, claimed 3 wickets each. It was the Sri Lankan captain's first failure in the series after making 103 in the first Test, 219 and 42 not out in the second and 75 in the first innings of final Test.

SL to find new bowling partners

With Muttiah Muralitharan and Lasith Malinga missing, Sri Lanka captain Sangakkara on said his team will have to build new bowling partnerships to trouble the Indians. He said their bowl to should be effective and in the right areas. Now Muralitharan has walked out of Tests and Sangakkara hopes on typical bowler Ajantha Mendis who has returned to the team for the second Test. Sangakkara said Mendis bowled well in the warm-up game and they are hoping that he will do well in Tests. They also have Rangana Herath and Suraj Randiv in the bowlers list.

When asked how Sri Lanka keeps on producing good bowlers like a Mendis and Malinga, Sangakkara said they have a lot of rubber and tennis-ball cricket and bowlers can come out with new things. He added SSC is a good pitch and he is sure that it has a lot of run to score.

SL took control

Sangakkara and Tharanga Paranavitana struck their centuries as Sri Lanka took control of the second Test against India. Sangakkara (130 not out) reached his 23rd Test century while Tharanga (100) scored his second century. Electing to bat, Tillakaratne Dilshan (54) and Paranavitana provided a good start to the innings. The Indians were pushed on the backfoot almost immediately after play began with Dilshan and Paranavitana unleashing fury strokes. Both Paranavitana and Sangakkara completed their centuries in the same over off Virender Sehwag.

Sangakkara got his half century after he whipped Ishant Sharma through the midwicket boundary. Paranavitana then completed his fifty when he got back to hit Sehwag’s ball. SL looks to reach 550

Tillakaratne Dilshan said his team looks to reach 550 on Day 2 so that their spinners can apply pressure on the Indians in the second Test. He said he thinks it will be a good total and they have good bowlers like Ajantha Mendis, Dilhara Fernando, Dhamika Prasad and Suraj Randiv in the team to pressure on Indians. He defended his team's decision to go with four bowlers as they have an all-rounder in Angelo Mathews. Dilshan was happy that Tharanga, who scored 100, has become an opener as he have learnt not to waste the chances to score.

He said, Dilshan used to struggle while getting near his century. Now he is able to handle it and getting more 100s. When asked about doctor Eliyantha White whom he had visited during his finger injury, Dilshan said, he took some medicines from him and recovered quickly.
